There is truly no better advocate for the neighbourhood than our dedicated Customer Service Officers at the front desk. Every day, they handle numerous enquiries from residents, and they strive to provide solutions to complex and multifaceted issues. Whether coordinating bulky item removals, liaising with counterparts to resolve communal facility issues, or addressing conflicts, they are our first line of support and they do it all with a warm smile.

Friendly and cheerful, Sandra Choo from the Avenue 1 office never lets the many challenges of her job dampen her bubbly demeanor. On a daily basis, she coordinates with contractors for key collection, handles internal administrative tasks, and addresses residents' requests and feedback, approaching everything with an infectious joy.

“It is simply a blessing to be part of something greater than myself,” she said, reflecting on her role.

This is clearly not her first foray into community service. Her passion for uplifting the community is rooted in her seven years of volunteering with the Residents’ Committee (RC), where she supported initiatives such as social gatherings and Grassroots programmes. “What drew me to community work was the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life,” she explained.

Now, three years into her role with the Ang Mo Kio Town Council, Sandra has been awarded the Most Valuable Team Player Award six times. This is truly a testament to her unwavering dedication and unconditional love for the community.

Patience and kindness are her motto

It is hard to believe that she has been part of the Town Council for only five months. When asked about her secret to staying so optimistic, she replied: “Believing in the goodness of people.” She genuinely cares about those she serves and takes the time to truly understand their circumstances before drawing any conclusions.

It helps that she is multilingual, being able to converse in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, and Teochew. Her upbeat presence fills the office with joy, leaving both her colleagues and residents smiling after every interaction.

“Remember to always be patient and kind. We are all doing our very best to serve residents,” she said, sharing her guiding principle.
