Community Outreach 2024:
Annual Tree Planting Day 2024 @ Jalan Kayu on 3 November 2024
On 3 November 2024, we celebrated a key milestone of planting 10,000 trees and shrubs during our Annual Tree Planting Day near Block 535 Serangoon North Ave 4. Together with Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, our MPs, 2nd Advisers and GM/Secretary, we closed of this year’s tree planting activity with many fun activities. We invited 6 booth partners such as the Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects (SILA), Salvation Army, AMK Industrial Park 2 Association, ITE College Central, Jalan Kayu Food Rescue and Lions Club of Singapore Mandarin to share sustainability tips with our residents.

Reopening of Cheng San Market and Cooked Food Centre @ Cheng San – Seletar division on 27 October 2024
MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC (Cheng San - Seletar), Ms Nadia Ahmad Samdin officiated the reopening of Cheng San Market and Cooked Food Centre on 27 October 2024. The market is one of the two markets selected to pilot the Hawker Centres Transformation Programme (HTP). This initiative marks a significant step forward in transforming our hawker centres to be cleaner, more productive, and sustainable. The scope of the works goes beyond the usual Repairs and Redecoration (R&R). The refreshed market is now better equipped to meet the needs of both stallholders and patrons, creating a space that is modern yet preserves the heart and soul of our hawker culture.

YCK Day 2024 @ Yio Chu Kang division on 27 October 2024
We celebrated two exciting openings at this year’s YCK Day on 27 October 2024! MP for Yio Chu Kang SMC, Mr Yip Hon Weng officiated the openings of Tzu Chi Community Dental Health Centre and a new and improved amphitheatre at Block 121 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3.

Tree Planting Activity @ Teck Ghee on 20 September 2024
On 20 September 2024, we invited students from My First Skool to join us for our final divisional tree-planting activity between Blocks 230 & 231 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3. Together with our team members and Mr Ho Juan San, our General Manager / Secretary of Ang Mo Kio Town Council, we planted 20 trees and 1,406 shrubs altogether!

Silver Upgrading Programme in Cheng San-Seletar on 25 August 2024
As part of the Housing & Development Board’s Silver Upgrading Programme (SUP), over 30 seniors took part in a Community Improvement Walk on 25 August 2024, where residents shared their ideas on senior-friendly features such as barrier-free access ramps, therapeutic gardens, and more. This programme, set to launch in Chong Boon precinct in 2025 and target to complete by 2026, aims to help residents age-in-place. MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC (Cheng San-Seletar division), Ms Nadia Ahmad Samdin and Minister for National Development, Mr Desmond Lee participated in the walk. The SUP will also extend to 22 other precincts over the next five years.

Tree Planting Activity @ Yio Chu Kang on 24 August 2024
On 24 August 2024, students from Little Seeds Preschool and neighbouring schools, participated in our tree-planting activity at Block 640 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6. Together with MP for Yio Chu Kang SMC, Mr Yip Hon Weng and volunteers from YCK Heights Residents' Network, a total of 20 trees and 1,410 shrubs were planted!

Tree Planting Activity @ Cheng-San Seletar on 23 August 2024
On 23 August 2024, children and parents from M.Y World @ Ang Mo Kio joined our tree planting activity at Block 571 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3. Together with MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC (Cheng San-Seletar division), Ms Nadia Ahmad Samdin and volunteers from Cheng San Cherry Residents’ Network, we planted 20 trees and 1,410 shrubs! We were also glad to spruce up the landscaping near the newly renovated Dragon Playground where children planted dreams while enjoying the new play facilities in our neighbourhood.

Tree Planting Activity @ Jalan Kayu on 27 July 2024
On 27 July 2024, children and parents from PCF Sparkletots, Kidz Meadow, and Rosyth School joined our tree planting activity at Block 959 Hougang Street 91. Together with MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC (Jalan Kayu division), Ms Ng Ling Ling and volunteers from Jalan Kayu Zone 1 and 2 Residents’ Networks, 20 trees and 1,410 shrubs were planted. The planting of trees and shrubs signify AMKTC's commitment to planting dreams and going green.

SM Lee's Visit to Rejuvenated Ang Mo Kio Town Centre on 14 July 2024
On 14 July 2024, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited the revitalised Ang Mo Kio Town Centre, upon the completion of phase 1 of the Remaking Our Heartlands (ROH) programme. Accompanied by Chairman Mr Darryl David and Vice-Chairman Mr Henry Kwek, SM Lee was briefed on the new upgrades, including lush green roofs, upgraded BFA ramps, a high sheltered linkway, a new shopping boulevard, a fountain, a new saga seed playground and more! These enhancements seek to provide residents with improved accessibility and comfort, lower the temperature in Ang Mo Kio Town Centre and ensure our seniors benefit from the senior-friendly amenities.

Jalan Kayu Day on 7 July 2024
On 7 July 2024, together with Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC (Jalan Kayu division), Ms Ng Ling Ling officiated the Buangkok Square Aquatic Theme Park. The aquatic theme park offers young families and children more play facilities, encouraging intergenerational bonding.

On 26 June 2024, AMKTC partnered Teck Ghee Primary School where Primary 4 students and teachers came together for the 2nd year to distribute educational posters to our residents and participated in litter-picking activities. It was a meaningful initiative to inculcate good habits from young.

Reopening of Chong Boon Market & Food Centre @ Cheng San – Seletar division on 1 June 2024
MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC (Cheng San - Seletar), Ms Nadia Ahmad Samdin officiated the reopening of Chong Boon Market and Food Centre (MFC) on 1 June 2024. The MFC buzzed with excitement as the celebration kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a lively lion dance performance. We are grateful to all stallholders and patrons for your patience over the past 12 weeks as the MFC underwent cyclical repairs and redecoration works. We are happy to welcome everyone back for delicious food and grocery shopping in Chong Boon MFC!

#YIO Neighbours Get-together @ Yio Chu Kang division on 25 May 2024
Residents of Blocks 611 and 612 Ang Mo Kio Ave 4/5 had a fun-filled Saturday evening on 25 May 2024 over food and gathering with their neighbours in the void deck. MP for Yio Chu Kang SMC, Mr Yip Hon Weng shared about the upcoming Sports-In-Precinct project which will be taking place in the neighbouring blocks soon.

Tree Planting Activity @ Fernvale division on 25 May 2024
We were excited to host over 100 participants comprising students, parents and teacher from Sengkang Green Primary School, and volunteers from Fernvale Zone B Residents’ Network for our tree planting activity at Block 468C Fernvale Link. Another 20 trees and 1406 shrubs were planted to spruce up the neighbourhood on 25 May 2024, with the involvement of MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC (Fernvale), Mr Gan Thiam Poh.

Tree Planting Activity @ Kebun Baru division on 17 May 2024
Our tree planting activity at Kebun Baru division was attended by preschool children from Child at Street 11 as well as volunteers from Kebun Baru Heights Residents’ Network. Together with MP for Kebun Baru SMC, Mr Henry Kwek, a total of 20 trees and 1406 shrubs were planted on 17 May 2024 at Block 104A Ang Mo Kio Street 11!

SG Clean Day on 28 April 2024
In support of SG Clean Day, residents and volunteers came together for another impactful round of litter-picking activities led by Residents' Network in Cheng San - Seletar and Kebun Baru divisions. Volunteer group, Stridy also led litter-picking initiatives at Fernvale division. In addition, our MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Ms Nadia rolled up her sleeves and joined residents in the monthly litter-picking exercise at Cheng San Seletar division.

Tree Planting Activity @ Ang Mo Kio – Hougang division on 20 April 2024
AMKTC kicked off the first Tree Planting Activity of 2024 in Ang Mo Kio - Hougang division, at Block 553 Hougang Street 51 on 20 April 2024. Themed 'Planting Dreams, Going Green', our Chairman Mr Darryl David planted a total of 20 trees and 1406 shrubs together with residents and volunteers to beautify and enhance the landscape in our neighbourhood.

Community Outreach 2023:
SG Clean Day
Together with community partners, volunteers and residents, AMKTC participated in the quarterly SG Clean Day supported by the Public Hygiene Council. In 2023, AMKTC received recognition for having the Most Number of People in Single Location & Multiple Location Mass Clean Up.


1000 Trees Project
The Annual Tree Planting Day 2023 was held between Blocks 106 and 107 Ang Mo Kio Ave 4. A total of 9 final trees were planted to reach our 1,000th trees milestone in 2023. Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong graced the event, together with MPs for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Kebun Baru and Yio Chu Kang SMCs. Over 300 participants attended the event. A mental health walk, joined by residents, was conducted prior to the tree planting activity to promote mental wellness.


Community Outreach 2022:
SG Clean Day
Held quarterly by the Public Hygiene Council (PHC), AMKTC worked together with its community partners to pick up litter and keep the estate clean across the 7 divisions in appreciation of the hard work done by all cleaners.


Creative Bin Project
Piloted in 2021, AMKTC stepped up efforts this year and partnered with more schools including Yio Chu Kang Primary School, Anderson Primary School, Jing Shan Primary School, Hougang Secondary School and Nanyang Polytechnic to redecorate bins and bring life to the common areas in the neighbourhood.


1000 Trees Project
In 2022, AMKTC staff, together with various educational institutions and residents across the 7 divisions planted trees as part of sustainability efforts to brighten up the estate. A total of 1000 trees were planted, with the final 16 planted during the Town Council’s annual Tree Planting Day 2022 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, MPs for Ang Mo Kio GRC, MP for Kebun Baru SMC, MP for Yio Chu Kang SMC and grassroot leaders.


Community Outreach 2021:
SG Clean Day
On April 2021, AMKTC, together with our MPs and other community members, did a mass clean-up activity across 7 divisions on SG Clean Day.


Creative Bin Project
AMKTC partnered with Deyi Secondary, Jing Shan Primary & Pathlight School to redecorate bins with artworks to encourage sustainable living and to remind residents to care for the estates.


APSN Upcycling of Banners
AMKTC partnered with APSN (Chaoyang) to upcycle unwanted banners into other items such as pouches, lunch box carrier and cardholders. The items are then sold, and all proceeds from the sales are given to APSN.


Community Outreach 2019:
UnLitter Red Dot
On 12 October 2019, AMKTC staff , together with volunteers from Habitat for Humanity conducted a clean-up session at Ang Mo Kio Town Centre. The 34 volunteers worked together to ensure that the Town Centre was spick and span on the busy Saturday morning.

Keeping the estate clean
On 8 August 2019, 30 volunteers from Care Corner Singapore picked up litter from Blks 301 to 306, 311 to 314, 317 to 329, and 343 to 348 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1.

Keep Your Neighbourhood Clean
On 22 July 2019, a small group of pre-schoolers from Sunshine Park Pre School 338, accompanied by their Vice Principal and their Chinese language teacher, were briefed on what Town Council does to help maintain cleanliness in their neighbourhood.

Ang Mo Kio Town Council partnered with Habitat For Humanity and KPMG to organise a litter-picking event for 45 staff as part of their CSR day at Blk 641- Blk 649 Ang Mo Kio Ave 6.
